Job Summary

The Production Supervisor position provides leadership and direct supervision to all manufacturing and material control team members within the Production Manufacturing department. The Production Supervisor will ensure that a quality product is provided in a cost-efficient and timely manner within a safe environment (SQDC - safety, quality, delivery, and cost). The position also ensures the planning and utilization of equipment, facilities, and personnel to meet manufacturing goals.

  • Achieve operational and production objectives by developing productivity standards, schedules, assigning tasks and monitoring results to achieve key SQDIP metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity)
  • Establish and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, conducting 6S audits to sustain
  • Ensure that KJLC’s ISO procedures and processes are effectively trained and followed, including PoR (process of record) work instructions, to deliver a quality product within spec. Conduct process audits to sustain.
  • Review daily production schedule, establish priorities, and monitor status of production orders, expediting and escalating as necessary. Schedule overtime as required to meet due dates.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities (examples: production methods, equipment, operating procedures, working conditions, etc.)
  • Maintain and facilitate Visual Management (SQDIP), driving actions to address KPI misses
  • Lead departmental problem-solving (root-causation) activities generated from continuous improvement initiatives, corrective action reports, and internal quality hold tags
  • Observe, analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the operations performed within the department, initiating innovative solutions (processes and equipment) to improve safety/quality and reduce cost/lead-time
  • Manage the PM program (preventive maintenance) for all Production Manufacturing equipment
  • Monitor and maintain operational expense item (consumables) inventory
  • Participate in the hiring (resume review, interviews, candidate selection, etc.) and termination processes
  • Assess employee performance on a monthly basis, provide frequent constructive feedback to employees, and conduct performance reviews. Implement corrective and disciplinary action as warranted.
  • Establish development plans/career paths for direct reports and group leaders
  • Maintain effective interface with other operations supervisors and other departments (e.g., Engineering, Quality, Weld, Manual & Clean) to optimize production and process improvement activity

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma, or GED
  • Strong background in welding, specifically with the GTAW process
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Minimum of 7 years in a production environment
  • Possesses a can-do attitude
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent Resident
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist and lift up to and including 60 lbs. unassisted. Assistance must be used for any items over this weight. Assistance is always required for anything weighing over 60 lbs.

Preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Associate Degree in Business, Management, Supervision, Technology or certificate from a Trade or Technical school in manufacturing (e.g. CWI)
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Teams)
