SUMMARY: Oversee and provide leadership to the company’s manufacturing operation. Provides direction and leadership to production supervisors and technical support personnel. Contributes to long term strategic planning for production plans. Makes budgetary recommendation on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Implements lean initiatives in the production environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned on an individual basis:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing, recruitment, and training activities in a multi-shift production environment.
  • Provide proactive management, coaching, and leadership to staff, including team building and mentoring
  • Ensures talent recruitment, retention and development of personnel to meet business needs.
  • Develop and prioritize production schedules based on capacity, product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Implements measures to minimize process time and material scrap.
  • Ensures effective communication of progress to targets, schedules, production interruptions or material issues to applicable team members.
  • Plans and administers procedures and budgets for production operations; ensures that procedures are adhered to.
  • Develops, implements and reports metrics for production quality, productivity, efficiency and compliance.
  • Minimize production down time by working with engineering and production personnel to identify preventive measures.
  • Plans and implements initiatives to reduce COGS, improve efficiency, improve systems and enhance quality and reliability.
  • Ensures implementation of and adherence to health and safety procedures, and maintain environmental, health and safety compliance. Maintain a safe working environment that minimizes workdays losses due to on the job injury.
  • Ensures continual operation of equipment by coordinating repairs, calibration, PMs, and evaluate new equipment, processes, and techniques.
  • Actively promote and support the Quality Management System, Quality Objectives, and Quality Policy.
  • Assure that you and functional subordinates (if applicable) are trained on all applicable procedures and processes according to Good Manufacturing Practices, applicable FDA and Regulatory requirements.
  • Actively promote and support the company’s Management Review process.
  • Inform responsible personnel of concerns involving product quality.
  • Perform job functions in a safe and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years increasingly responsible experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, including multi-shift operations and at least 3 years of direct people management experience.
  • Experience working in compliance with Quality Systems designed to meet regulatory requirements, such as but not limited to FDA QSR ISO 13485, MDD etc.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma implementation experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding for Inventory Management Systems.
  • Strong and engaging leadership skills for managing teams in a multi-shift environment.
  • Capability of managing production and engineering resources desired.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Micro-Soft Office Suite products.
  • Must have data analysis, planning, scheduling and reporting experience.
  • Solid history of career progression within the medical device industry.
  • Must be detail-oriented and should possess good inter-personal skills to be able to interact and present information between production and cross-functional departments.
