PURPOSE:
Create and facilitate electronic artwork that is designed to meet our customer’s needs based on press manufacturing limitations. Mentor peers while managing workflow and driving quality processes in order to deliver quality product to our customers.
KEY ACCOUNTABILIES:
- Ensure all safety requirements are met and policies are followed. Fully investigate any safety issues along with management and work with the team to make recommendations as needed for any modifications needed. Ensure all safety goals and incident reporting requirements are met.
- Create and facilitate electronic artwork that is designed to meet our customer’s needs based on press manufacturing limitations.
- Mentor peers while managing workflow/priorities and driving quality processes in order to deliver quality product to our customers.
- Utilize current graphic design technology and software to produce imagery for the flexographic print industry to press specifications.
- Originate designs including: art and copy layouts, determine style, size and arrangement of type and graphics.
- Directly assemble final layout for plate separations to include traps, bleeds, elements to meet customer press requirements.
- Maintain plotters and supplies while troubleshooting common problems that may arise.
- Manage proofing practices to ensure accuracy within team.
- Procedure and process adherence of all team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Communications, Graphic Design, printing technology or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years as a professional designer with a thorough knowledge of flexographic printing specifications and their application.
- Knowledge of corrugated packaging and CAD design is highly desirable but not required.
- Working knowledge of Esko Graphics software is essential.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or higher is mandatory.
- Proficiency in Macintosh OSX is necessary.
COMPETENCIES:
- Extensive knowledge of Macintosh computers and all major graphics applications, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suites with primary software being used Adobe Illustrator
- Experienced with Automation Engine/Plate Patcher/DeskPak
- Layout/design and creative skills sufficient to find balance between customer’s needs and manufacturing limitations
- Knowledge of fundamental color management and color theory principles relative to flexographic print specifications
- Acute proofreading capabilities with high level of quality control capabilities
- Highly organized and motivated
- Must employ efficient and effective computer skills and work habits
