Purpose of the position
The Product Owner for Content Incident Management is responsible for prioritizing curriculum incidents across a variety of courses for grades K through 12and managing a team of content fixers to ensure incident resolution. The Product Owner will work closely with the Product Management team to define and write product features related to course maintenance, course care, and operational features to be implemented by Development Teams. The Product Owner will follow the Agile development process, to define the scope of work for the Scrum team by creating user stories, developing acceptance criteria and refining the product backlog. Working with product management and subject matter experts, this role will apply incremental delivery principles to working practices, driving the delivery of value through your teams; communicating progress, eliciting feedback and enabling stakeholder reviews for validation in the process. This role manages a team of content fixers in understanding issue prevalence and impact in order to resolve production incidents quickly and effectively.
Core tasks and responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and support a team of content fixers who are equipped to resolve prioritized incidents in K-12 curriculum
- Engagement in day-to-day activities with your Development Team. This involves leading refinement sessions and engaging with your Scrum team, providing direction and focus
- Support the development of a prioritized Product Backlog, including the development of user stories, acceptance criteria and scenarios for your Development Team to create working curriculum and learner experiences.
- Solves a variety of complex problems; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
- Understand the capabilities/limitations of the available authoring and development tools to help inform design solutions and the application of instructional strategies
- Provide expertise on editorial style, standards, and processes.
- Work with Product Manager to refine backlog contents and priority, ensuring sufficient depth of groomed items for development consumption and commitment
- Review curriculum for end-user experience accuracy
- Collaborates with agile release teams to understand product release contents and expected behaviors and informs development of end-user-facing release notes and documentation.
- Works with Global Incident Management, Product Management, and development teams to drive priority of resolving critical production incidents impacting students’, teachers’, and Learning Coaches’ abilities to use the Curriculum product successfully

- Works closely with Global Incident Management and Product delivery in support of high-quality K-12 virtual learning experiences.
- Work with other Agile and product teams to identify and address cross-project dependencies.
- Identify and analyze project risks and manage mitigation process with project team and stakeholders.

- Negotiates internally at senior levels regarding important issues within their own area
- Begins to develop relationships with senior leaders across the organization, customers and suppliers

- Understands curriculum development methodologies, including developing content to align to state and national standards
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years product management experience, including experience managing digital products
- Experience in an educational setting is beneficial, K-12 specifically is a plus
- Experience in a leadership role developing and delivering software-based curriculum for a global audience.
- In depth understanding of assessment creation and delivery.
- Experience leading wholly remote teams required
- Experience of project management in a multi-disciplined and commercial environment
- Basic HTML and web skills essential.
- Thorough understanding of information architecture principles and practices
- Knowledge of Microsoft and Google business applications preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Educational Management Systems, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with SAFe Agile principles
