The Procurement Specialist (PS) position will support the ISC Procurement team at the Philadelphia PA plant ensuring cost effectiveness and performance standards are maintained. This individual will take direction from the Procurement Leader and assist with daily activities that include transacting in procurement systems, vendor selection/onboarding, negotiation, collaboration, and contract management through the full life cycle of Capital and Indirect programs, in supporting spend up to $30MM.
Responsibilities:
Category Management
The PS will assist the Procurement Leader for mitigating supply risk, maximizing financial improvement and driving innovation with the supply base via the spend managed in their area. The PS will aid in:
- Extracting spend data from SAP and other dashboard tools as well as pulling external market intelligence data in support of category specific strategies that align with AdvanSix goals for reducing costs and meeting financial expectations; and
- Cultivates and maintains key vendor relationships; and
- Interacts with stakeholders to progress plans established for supplier relationships in extracting the greatest value in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, risk management, sustainability, and innovation; and
- Actively seeks ways to streamline business processes; researches and provides information on industry category trends and best practices.
Procurement Execution
For funded Capital and Plant activities, the PS shall be a resource for the organization in their area to:
- Act as Procurement Liaison between project team 3rd party construction suppliers; and
- Execute RFI’s and RFP’s, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers; and
- Write contracts and Purchase Order’s within delegation of authority; and
- Resolve or facilitate the resolution of supplier issues with invoicing, qualifications and back-charges.
Other Activities
At the PS’s site or Plant location they shall:
- Foster a strong favorable relationship between the Engineering, Plant and ISC leadership teams; and
- May be assigned to new Procurement initiatives, or Plant special projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associates of Science or Arts Degree
- SAP experience and working with a commodity that has a high transactional load
- 2+ years of indirect services category support, strategic sourcing or project management experience with increasing responsibility over time. Manufacturing experience preferred. (Chemical, Refining background preferred but not required.)

- Prior experience within the Hard and Soft craft construction industries;
- Experience managing supplier relationships
- Data analytics background
- Highly organized and effective manager of both time and resources
- Ability to drive to meet goals without direct supervision
- Demonstrates personal commitment to meeting the needs of the business; internal stakeholders
- Ability to communicate effectively with Operations Management, external contacts such as high-level positions within supplier organizations, and with all levels within the AdvanSix organization including requisitioners.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (primarily Excel, also One Note, Power Point etc.)
- Technical proficiency with appropriate procurement systems and analytic tools (SAP ECC and Business Warehouse), and e-procurement systems (Scan-Market or Ariba).
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification
