Printed Circuit Board Designer

Basler Electric is currently looking for a Printed Circuit Board Designer to join our Electrical Engineering team. This position is responsible for Printed Circuit Board design and layout. This role will work closely with other team members to perform schematic capture and design of PCBs using good layout practices to meet functional, Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and spacing requirements. We are looking for candidates that have experience designing printed circuit boards or are willing to learn. Candidates must have or be working toward an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Working knowledge of the Altium PCB Design software package is highly preferred.

At Basler, we design and populate printed circuit boards for products in house. We use printed circuit boards in the following products that we manufacture: excitation systems, voltage regulators, generator set controls, protective relays. In addition, we manufacture intermediate and class two transformers and plastic components. You will find Basler products in power plants, substations, hydro dams, agricultural facilities, airports, refineries, telecom, factories, marine applications, large building management, etc. Our products control, protect, monitor and manage the delivery of electricity. They are found anywhere large amounts of power are being generated. When looking for candidates for our job openings it is preferred that candidate have experience in this arena or are interested in doing so.

PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD DESIGNER

JOB SUMMARY: With guidance from senior level PCB Designers, design and develop printed circuit board layouts. Employs the best combination of preliminary information and contributing data to develop final designs

REPORT TO: Electrical Engineering Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

*Design and develop printed circuit boards as assigned

*Work to Basler printed circuit board standards or military standards

*Assist in creating new printed circuit board standards

*Create symbols and parts for PCB component libraries

*Generates documents for schematics, assembly drawings, and fabrication drawings

*Draft layout for standard and dense, hi-speed, multi-layer PCBs

*Assist in component selection when required

*Assist detailers assigned to work on printed circuit and printed circuit board documentation packages

*Make sure all printed circuit board documentation is complete and checked per Basler standards

*Handle changes to printed circuit boards

*Keep current with printed circuit board design and documentation systems including hardware and software

*Provide input for scheduling of printed circuit design activity

*Evaluate out-of-house programs for PCB designers and recommend programs as needed for individual designers

*Review completeness of input data package, minimum size of PCB, hours required to design the PCB, and component outline availability

*Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

*Associates degree in electronics or related field

*Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

*Working knowledge of Altium PCB Design software package preferred.

*Travel as required for training, support of project tasks, product issues, or other design or job related needs.

Pay: $44,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
