We are excited to consider an engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area for this role.On the Pixie team, we are building a novel observability system based on eBPF and machine intelligence to provide insight into complex software applications. Pixie automatically collects rich telemetry data with eBPF, while a powerful in-cluster data system enables programmatic use of this data. The system is used for performance, network, security, and other observability use cases.

We are seeking a systems/ML software engineer at New Relic, focused on the CNCF (Cloud-Native Computing Foundation) open-source Pixie project!

Your Responsibilities

As a software engineer on the team, you will play a key role in designing and building our scalable machine data intelligence system. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a problem that spans data engineering, data analytics, machine learning, and distributed systems! Our system consists primarily of Go and C++ with some Python.

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

  • 6+ years in one of the following areas: Distributed Systems, HPC, Machine Learning.
  • Expertise (or willingness to learn) C++ and Go.
  • Expertise (or willingness to learn) Kubernetes.
  • Experience architecting and developing large-scale distributed systems. Experience in concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization.
  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.
  • Work out of our office in San Francisco.
Nice-to-have:
  • BS/MS/PhD in CS (or equivalent).
  • Experience with C++.
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and kernel development.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, and performance.
  • Prior experience building complex technical enterprise products.
  • Prior experience at high-growth teams.
