Position SummaryThe President will collaborate with the Board of Trustees and internal and external stakeholders to develop a robust point of view about the evolving landscape and the strategic, operational, and financial steps PLI should take to advance its position and remain the preeminent continuing legal education organization in the nation. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the President sets PLI’s strategy for the future and leads the organization to fulfill its mission. The President is responsible for the leadership, direction and overall management of the organization and its resources, including the recruitment, retention, and motivation of a high performing staff. This leader ensures that the organization continues to grow its revenue streams through quality programmatic offerings and a clear and consistent value proposition. The President manages the organization’s budget and allocates resources to ensure the association’s maximum impact on behalf of the membership and the legal profession. Additionally, this leader serves as the face and voice for the organization to relevant stakeholder groups. The President will work tirelessly to support the mission of PLI, leveraging its unique strengths and seizing opportunities to expand its impact, appeal and competitiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the organization’s activities are furthering its mission and expanding its impact
- Maintains an internal culture that fosters high standards of ethics and integrity while serving as a role model by reinforcing organizational goals and encouraging equality and innovation
- With an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, supports HR team in attracting, developing and retaining a high performing team of engaged employees
- Develops, implements, monitors, and assesses the organization’s programs and their impact
- Champions the organization and advocates its mission to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensures legal compliance (including all required filings) and sound risk management practices
- Works effectively in partnership with the Board of Trustees and Board Chair to support and guide PLI’s governance and fiduciary responsibilities

Academic credentials
Undergraduate degree required; relevant advanced degree (J.D., M.B.A.) preferred
