Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans. About the Power Optimization and Business Analyst Position As a Power Optimization and Business Analyst, you will analyze, plan, steward, and optimize services in support of the cost effective and efficient operation of Colonial’s pipeline systems. The Analyst is financially oriented with energy, pipeline operation, and data analysis elements. The Power Optimization and Business Analyst will assist the EMPO Manager in identifying, analyzing, and implementing opportunities to optimize pipeline operating costs. What You Get to Do:

  • Work with the EMPO Engineer and DRA Engineer with developing and cost optimizing the monthly operating plan for HP/DRA Injection Limits.
  • Assist in completing cost/benefit analyses for EMPO initiated capital projects.
  • Complete regular updates and performance analyses of EMPO savings initiatives.
  • Assist in developing, validating, and monitoring station and system energy consumption, performance and value metrics and uses such data and metrics to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor performance of Colonial solar assets, including production tracking, SREC contracts, and analyses of avoided utility energy costs.
  • Communicate regularly with key electric utilities to maintain emergency contact information, stay abreast of forecasted rate/tariff changes, and coordinate planned power outages with Planning & Utilization.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education, such as a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited education institution with ideally, 5+ years of directly related work experience in the electric utility or pipeline operation industry.
  • Ideally, 3+ years of high-level analytical work experience compiling data from various systems/sources and developing meaningful analyses to influence, recommend new processes or improve processes in a similar environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Knowledgeable in OSIsoft PI Historian, PI Vision and PI DataLink (Excel Add-In).
  • Data analysis, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
