Description of Work Unit

Program, Department and College: Our undergraduate supply chain program was established several years ago and has recently achieved a 96% placement rate within 90 days of graduation, a 100% offer rate, and has grown in both the number of students and as a percentage of total College of Business majors each semester. Our Supply Chain Forum has strong community engagement to, and support from, Colorado-based and national businesses. The Forum helps support the activities of the Supply Chain program with regards to faculty and student development.

The Department of Management is one of five departments in the College of Business. The Department has a strong record of teaching and research accomplishments as well as a collegial work environment. The Department offers undergraduate concentrations in supply chain management, human resource management, and organization and innovation management as well as a minor in entrepreneurship. The Department of Management currently has 19 tenure-track faculty members, as well as 10 non-tenure track faculty members. The Department serves approximately 2,400 undergraduate business majors, as well as approximately 1,600 undergraduate students enrolled in the business minor, and about 1,000 M.B.A. students. The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB-accredited and top-ranked business school whose Online MBA program is #1 in Colorado and #10 in the nation, with a worldwide alumni base of 34,000 and growing. Position Summary

The Department of Management in the College of Business at Colorado State University invites applications for a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellow position focused on Supply Chain Management. The start date is August 2021. Salary and benefits are competitive.

This postdoc position will conduct research leading to scholarly publication in leading academic journals along with teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in supply chain management (e.g., purchasing, global supply chain), demonstrating the ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities is important.

The College of Business (COB) has prioritized impactful, informative research that utilizes environmental and social responsibility to promote the COB brand and achieve Business for a Better World. We expect the postdoctoral fellow to contribute to the mission of the COB by producing impactful research in collaboration with the Department’s supply chain management faculty.



Required Job Qualifications
  • Applicants must be pursuing a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management or a related field from an AACSB-accredited institution. To be considered, candidates must provide convincing evidence that their doctorate degree will be completed before August 16, 2021. The search committee will verify this by contacting the graduate school of the individual’s program.
  • An established record of publishing empirical research in top-tier, peer reviewed, academic journals, or a demonstrated potential to do so, is also required.
  • Candidates must also have the interest and ability to effectively teach courses in supply chain management areas of need and conduct research with colleagues.

Preferred Job Qualifications

We seek individuals who aspire to develop research programs within the broad area of supply chain sustainability, potentially encompassing topics such as environmental, social, and economic sustainability, digital sustainability (e.g., cybersecurity) or structural sustainability (e.g., resilience to disruptions, supply chain complexity). The ideal candidate would also (a) have strong expertise in multiple research methods, with the ability to translate the results of empirical analysis in novel and urgent areas and (b) complement our research strengths while bringing new dimensions to our research profile.
We are interested in individuals who value collegiality, whose research would complement the interests of our existing faculty, and who have a preference for teaching general supply chain or procurement/purchasing focused classes. (Candidates who are able to teach in general supply chain or procurement/purchasing-focused classes have a high likelihood of maintaining a single course prep for the duration of the position.) Evidence of the potential to work effectively in a department that places significant emphasis on interdisciplinary interaction and integration is preferred.
