The Post-Award Analyst is an important member of the fiscal management team in BTS and participates in the management of complex portfolios of research grants for federal, state, private, and industry contracts. The incumbent independently works with the principal investigators (PI) to ensure that expenses are in compliance with the OMB circulars A-21, A-110, and A-133 audit.

The Analyst provides professional and technical leadership to ensure that the process from award setup to award closeout are in compliance with UCSF policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and private contracts. These responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring understanding the terms and conditions of the sponsored awards, managing direct and indirect costs to avoid overdraft and ensuring that spending is appropriately spread out over the period of the grant. The incumbent also perform appropriate cost transfers as required for payroll (PET) and non-payroll (journal) spending. Throughout the grant period and during the close process, the Analyst is responsible for reconciling the GL against all payroll and non-payroll expenses to ensure that spending is in compliance with sponsor’s terms and conditions. This person will serve as one of the primary points of contact for the PIs.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, s/he will provide guidance and oversight of all research administration functions, including financial analysis and reporting.

**Note: This position is hybrid. It will be 2 days onsite.

Department Description

The Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences reports to both the School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy. Its faculty perform high-quality basic, translational and clinical research in the fields of drug development, pharmacogemonics, therapeutic engineering and computational biology. It educates PharmDs, MDs, Masters in Translational Medicine and PhDs in bioengineering and therapeutic sciences.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience / training.
  • Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
  • Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
  • Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
  • Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
  • Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
