We have a great opportunity to join the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) department as a Portfolio Credit Analyst based in Elmwood Park, NJ!

BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for underwriting for the company and evaluating commercial real estate applications originated by the commercial real estate department.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Underwrites mortgage loans on income-producing properties (multi-family, industrial, and interim/ construction loans). Transactions assigned are of moderate complex aspects. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

2. Conduct an in depth analysis of the credit including financial analysis, cash flow analysis (business, personal and global), evaluation of repayment sources along with an overall credit risk assessment.

3. Works closely with Client Managers in structuring loans and recommends appropriate loan transactions.

4. Interacts with CRE brokers, appraisers, environmental engineers, and third-party vendors and bank personnel.

5. Prepares loan submissions for Department Manager, Senior Lending Officer and Credit Committee.

6. Assists in training other CRE employees.

7. Participates in internal audit examinations.

8. Maintains required knowledge related to bank credit policies, loan programs, and real estate markets.

9. Performs other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

· College Degree, or equivalent related business experience.

Experience:

· Minimum of 2-5 years related experience required.

· Demonstrated ability to analyze tax returns, operating statements and pro-forma statements to calculate loan-to-value ratio and debt-coverage ratio.

· Familiarity with a financial calculator to perform payment, present value, future value and yield calculations.

· Excellent written/verbal communication skills required.

· Strong problem solving skills.

· Proficiency with various software programs including word processing and spreadsheet applications required.
