The Investigations Sergeant, position will be the supervisor for the Detective Branch, part of the Division of Safety and Facilities within the George Washington University. This position supervises operations within the GW Police Department during an assigned shift or assignment by providing direction and guidance to subordinate staff within the Investigations Unit. The incumbent will manage the day to day operations of the Investigations Unit, including scheduling, assignments, evaluations, and distribution of responsibilities. This position will report to the Investigations Lieutenant. Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 5 years of relevant professional experience as a police officer; internally or within a federal, state, military, or municipality to include at least three years of functional supervisory experience is necessary, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus one year of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must meet the requirements to possess a SPO License through DC’s Metropolitan Police Department, Security Officers Management Branch (SOMB) as described in DC Municipal Regulations Title 6-A, Chapter 11 within 120 days of employment.
