General Summary: The Plant Manager leads the daily operation of multi-shift manufacturing, facility and is responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP).
While overseeing the manufacturing facility, the Plant Manager is for the application of lean tools including value stream mapping, 6S, process mapping, flow methods (pull, kanban), SMED, standard work and visual management, etc.
This position is essential in developing a culture of continuous improvement to meet and exceed operational goals and objectives.
Success in this role is defined by daily order execution, workforce flexibility, employee onboarding, productivity/efficiency, sequencing, process adherence, and training/development in production. This will be measured by ongoing improvements in driving quality, schedule attainment, Safety, and productivity/efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Leads all facets of the value stream(s) management and supervision including workforce flexibility, staffing, employee onboarding and training/development, to include cross-training.
- Leads production execution capabilities, to accomplish business objectives through the coordinated efforts of multiple teams
- Establishes goals and objectives for the business units/departments.
- Develops a 3 year facility continuous improvement plan and executes/leads highly complex multi-year, multi-discipline, best practice strategic operational projects. Ensure the creation of current state and future state value stream maps in order to develop and manage a plan to arrive at the annual future states.
- Responsible leading and coordinating the successful launch of New Product Introductions (NPI) within operations
- Ensures ongoing success of process improvement initiatives by implementing policies, procedures and process documentation.
- Identify and reduce value stream waste, improve quality, productivity and reduce lead times in a culture of continuous improvement.
- Works closely with Planning, Purchasing and Materials Management and their teams to achieve SMART goals and KPI?s.
- Use and promote a disciplined problem solving methodology (5-why, 8D) to drive countermeasures and ensure long term sustainable results
- Ensures a safe work place is provided for all employees. Implements and executes frequent department safety inspections and assures the accurate completion of all accident reports.
- Reviews the daily and weekly shipping schedules and production capabilities to determine how to employ people, equipment and tooling to execute sequence and expedite daily orders.
- Builds future leaders in Production Management and other operational disciplines.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage operations Value Stream Managers and Supervisors, as well as all direct and indirect labor.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Experience: Operations Management, Engineering, or Industrial Technology.
- Strong Lean background; Experience with Value Stream Mapping is a must
- Experience leading a major cross-functional project that included managing resources, implementing project plans and timelines, identifying and removing roadblocks, implementation of improved product lines.
- Expert in implementation of lean principles and improvements; preferably demand flow principles
- Strong project leadership experience with a diversity of team skills.
- Strong Problem Solving Skills.
- Strong Coaching/Mentoring.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Lean Six Sigma desirable.
