POSITION SUMMARY

Direct company assets in a manner to maximize capacity and utilization with minimizing cost. Maintain a constant focus on driver retention and customer satisfaction. Directly support both the Dispatch and Customer Service departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

1. Possess a firm grasp of trends and balance within your assigned area. Accept freight aggressively and maintain your load to truck ratio at 100% or greater. It is expected that you move all drivers within your assigned region out each day with zero layovers.

2. Inform Customer Service of freight needs as soon as possible, preferably the day before.

3. Honor driver routing requests in a timely fashion.

4. Assist Customer Service in solving service issues as needed. Assist Driver Managers in the same fashion with driver needs.

5. Communicate with fellow planners as needed and coordinate efforts.

6. Make a constant effort to maximize miles for the driver by assigning the best possible freight with appropriate pickup and delivery windows. Preplan drivers on their next load early and often.

7. Proactively manage trailer pools at both yard and customer locations. Work with the Equipment Control and Customer Service groups as needed to keep dropped trailer pools in line.

8. Plan ahead. You are expected to be looking forward into the future. Your goal by shift end is to have all pickups prior to 1100 the following day planned and confirmed.

9. Highlight bad data to Customer Service and Dispatch in a factual manner. Involve Management as needed for support.

10. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma of equivalent. 3 years minimum FTL experience.


PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • College degree in Transportation or another related field.


REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

  • Must be able to proficiently use Microsoft office products


  • Must possess a solid operating knowledge of Venture’s TMW system.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work at a desk for up to 10 hours per day. Walk the Operations floor as needed to resolve problems.
