POSITION PURPOSE

To efficiently pick, pack, scan and ship the orders as reflected on the stockroom order pick slips. To ensure proper product location to minimize picking errors. To build or re-pair product correctly and efficiently as part of a team assembly.


ATTENDANCE AND SCHEDULE

Must be able to work any shift and a minimum of 40 hours a week. May work overtime when needed. Maintains consistent and regular attendance that conforms to the Company’s established attendance policy.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write English in order to follow basic instructions and keep shipping and stockroom location records.
  • Must have good visual acuity and good manual dexterity.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Picks product from the stockroom locations and places product in shipping boxes according to item, quantity and location information printed on the pick slips.
  • Places product neatly and stacked in the proper shipping container, or on the proper pallet.
  • Prepares containers for shipping according to customer specifications.
  • Assembles cardboard shipping containers by method of stapling and or taping.
  • Finishes filling orders that have been staged coming from the warehouse.
  • Places completed orders on pallets and moves pallets to designated shipping area.
  • Scans orders and product using the PC based scanning program with hand held bar code scanner device to verify items, quantities are correct.
  • Picks by zone when applicable to maintain efficiency.
  • Retrieves or communicates to order pickers for retrieval of any missing or miss picked product.
  • Fills any empty space in shipping container with proper packing material. Seals container properly for shipment using tape or tape machine, whichever is applicable.
  • Operates the shipping station to manifest and record all shipments.
  • Unload load, material(s) daily from or onto trucks using the appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Creates documents needed for freight shipment and processes orders according to proper procedures.
  • Correctly setup and take down assembly lines during various production runs and re-work projects per instructions from management.
  • Ensure stock is available before beginning production runs or re-work projects and that the correct components are being used.
  • Complete finished goods by counting components and correctly placing them into assigned compartments. Apply labeling and other artwork features and place into shipping cartons.
  • Track production and re-work levels by providing daily counts to warehouse manager or crew chief.
  • Orders additional finished goods periodically from the warehouse and stocks them in the proper locations.
  • Drives and maneuvers order picker and forklift truck as required.
  • Uses the correct material handling equipment and following safety regulations, efficiently moves the product within the warehouse and to/from other departments.

Other Duties

  • Cuts and removes lids from stocked boxes of product. Breaks down empty boxes and places them in proper receptacle.
  • Participate in cycle counts as needed.
  • Restock product or components during production or assembly work.
  • Processes return goods. Transacts items from putaway to stockroom location, physically places the items in the locations.
  • Performs any and all tasks as assigned by supervisor or crew chief.
  • Observes all safety and good housekeeping regulations of the department and/or the company. Department good housekeeping consists of putting finished goods in proper location on shelves, keeping floor clear of debris or trash, keeping aisles and walkways clear of obstructions, removing broken or unused pallets from work areas and properly storing all shipping supplies.


PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for the length of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and twist to remove and/or place product on skids.
  • Must be able to use arms to reach up and/or out over head and shoulders to push/pull and lift product and move product from one location to another.
  • When necessary, must be able to bend and lift product above the head in order to stock shelves.
  • Must have good visual acuity and good manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes due to the weather in a warehouse environment, summer heat and humidity and winter cold.
  • Must be physically able to help in the warehouse when needed.
  • Must be able to uses a hand stapler on a regular basis throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 12 feet.


Equipment used Pallet jacks, dollies, ladders for stocking shelves and pulling orders, box stapler, bar code scanner/reader, PC computer, forklift or order picker as required and heat shrink machine.
