This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.
This position provides medical care to offenders within the NC Department of Public Safety Prison facility at Alexander Correctional Institution, a 1000 bed close custody prison, located in Taylorsville, NC. Position is assigned to report to Health and Wellness in Raleigh, NC, for supervision and direction. Position performs physical exams, and provides primary care services for acute and chronic medical conditions to the offender population at this facility. Provider evaluates patients in a medical clinic setting, consults with patients, and refers to other clinics or specialists as needed, orders diagnostic and lab tests, writes prescriptions, transfers patients to infirmary unit, documents electronic medical records, and performs life-saving procedures. THIS POSITION IS A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE TO ALL OFFENDERS PATIENTS ASSIGNED TO THIS FACILITY, and may also cover nearby facilities as assigned. The position supervises physician extender at the facility, if applicable. The position also provides emergency care for employees as needed, and may participate in policy development, staff meetings and other administrative functions. Position will be supervised by the Deputy Medical Director.
Note to Current State Employees: The Salary Grade for this position is MG14. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase/decrease MAY result.
