Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacists in pharmaceutical preparation, distribution and the record keeping functions in the delivery of pharmaceutical supplies to patients in accordance with department policies and procedures.

A. Supports/follows all regulations and policies of hospital and pharmacy law.
B. Assists pharmacists with extemporaneous compounding of pharmaceuticals.
C. Performs distributive tasks including filling new medication orders for scheduled and PRN medication to deliver to patient care areas. Also performs batch medication cart refill process to re-supply patients with medication on a cyclical basis.
D. Prepares sterile IV products including small and large volume parenterals using appropriate aseptic preparation techniques. Prepares total parenteral nutrition (TPN) using current automation. Prepares Chemotherapy medications under the supervision of the pharmacist and delivers IV products to patient care areas.
E. Ensures timely delivery of medication to patient care areas. Maintains pharmacy medication inventory and supplies.
F. Manages floor stock replacement process to patient care areas.
G. Assists in control and accountability for all medications in the hospital including aspects of inventory control such as medication ordering.
H. Perform system maintenance and basic trouble shooting for pharmacy operating systems such as Pyxis. Provides assistance to nursing staff with ADC questions/problems.
I. Assists in the managing of controlled substance procurement, distribution, record keeping, and accountability including discrepancy resolution.
J. Accurately pulls and logs expired medications for return and replaces appropriately.
K. Performs nursing unit inspections in coordination with the appropriate pharmacist oversight.
L. Repackages bulk medications into unit dose packaging.
M. Completes all job competencies as assigned.
N. Performs other duties as assigned.
