We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Same Day Surgery/PACU team at the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville.

The Perianesthesia RN provides direct patient care to patients in the immediate preoperative, postoperative or postprocedural period using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This position is 32 hours per week on day shift. No weekends, holidays, or on-call required.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A valid state of Maine RN license or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion, required
• At least 2 years of acute care or med/surg RN work experience, strongly preferred
• Strong assessment & IV skills
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, problem solve and utilize critical thinking skills
• Dedication to on-going learning and professional development
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills

Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and provides patient education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
