Job Description

Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

We are seeking Build/Assembly Process Technicians for engine, drive unit and battery assembly operations within GM Performance and Racing. The role requires coordination of work with other departmental supervisors, engine builders, technicians, sub-contractors, and engineering.

The Build/Assembly Process Technicians are responsible for following and further developing various prototype build sequences and detailed assembly specifications as part of a scaled up low volume, flexible assembly line that includes error proofing and quality documentation. Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with high performance, prototype and/or specialty assembly operations, tooling setup, and inspection in prototype and/or production environments
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing schedules, workflow, safety, and equipment
  • Strong background in high performance engine / battery assembly
  • Broad technical skills and demonstrated abilities in research and/or engineering area of responsibility
  • Thorough understanding of engineering theory and principles; provide technical alternatives
  • Strong organizational skills for navigating GM administrative and engineering systems and tools used by work team and those who collaborate with work team
  • Ability to champion and lead change within team and with others related to the team
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to problem solve in an environment where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) periodically for training and on-site technology transfer
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the trade
  • Strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced racing environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Technical related area
  • Extensive experience in one or several areas: Battery Electric Vehicle Systems (Electric Motors, Power Electronics, HV Batteries), Drive Unit build experience, Battery Pack build experience, or Engine build experience
  • GM HV Level 2L Certified
