Overview
As a part of our HR team, you will play a dynamic role in multiple functions spanning employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee development, and documentation of processes. The HR generalists report to you. There might not be a typical day for you, so you are comfortable wearing multiple hats and having a range of responsibilities. You bring a can-do, hands-on attitude to everything you do. Working with our Chief People Officer, you will develop and implement talent initiatives to execute our exciting people strategy across the Settlement. Your success in this role will position you to be the successor to the Chief People Officer in 2-3 years.
Strategy and Development

  • Strategy: Stay abreast of trends and research relevant to HR and talent management; Conduct employee culture survey; Maintain strong relations with field managers and employees.
  • Ensure the implementation of Henry Street’s people strategy within the divisions, including Training & Development, Recruiting & Retention, DEI, and Health & Wellness.

Operations and Employee Relations

  • Operations: Maintain employee handbook and HR process manual; Oversee the maintenance of employee records and the production of ad hoc and routine reports in response to funder requests and to measure HR effectiveness.
  • Employee Relations: Provide advice and coaching to managers regarding workforce practices, organization design, policies, and employment laws; Hear and resolve employee grievances; Participate in disciplinary and termination meetings and counsel employees and managers.
  • Onboarding and development: Implement onboarding, training, feedback, development, and evaluation programs within the field.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation: Ensure competitive and equitable total rewards.
  • Benefits: Administer medical and group insurance benefits and claims; Act as a liaison with medical brokers; Administer disability and unemployment policies and claims; Study and assess benefit needs and trends, including recommending benefit programs, obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids, and awarding benefit contracts; Conduct educational programs on benefit programs; Respond to employee questions regarding benefits.

Along the way you know that you’ve picked up a solid knowledge of state and federal employment laws, a bachelor’s degree and logged 5+ years of experience in HR management. SHRM Certification and/or an advanced degree is a plus.
