Summary Job Description:

The Payroll Manager is responsible for leading and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all payroll processing functions for Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York and its subsidiaries. The Payroll Manager will report to and work closely with the Associate Chief Financial Officer. In addition, the Payroll Manager will oversee the Payroll Specialist.


Principle Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accuracy of bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Monitors compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) FLSA regulations
  • Performs payroll analysis to ensure proper deductions are calculated and withheld correctly
  • Verifies compliance with federal and state payroll tax requirements
  • Assist as needed with annual financial statement audits, workers compensation, and other internal audits
  • Research new payroll pronouncements and make suggestions on implementation
  • Performs payroll system maintenance and design
  • Prepares relevant reports for management on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Compiles data from payroll sources for analysis
  • Ensures the timely completion of all payroll tax reporting requirements and the issuance of W-2s
  • Monitors control procedures related to the preparation and disbursement of direct deposits of payroll checks.
  • Analyze and interprets payroll reports in order to respond to employee’s payroll problems and discrepancies; generates, reviews and maintains a variety of automated reports on a routine basis.
  • Responds to due dates for time-sensitive actions and notifies supervisor of follow up activities and/or corrected records
  • Supervises additional payroll staff or temporary clerks by training, evaluating, providing daily direction and verifying accuracy of work
  • Document and maintain key payroll procedures and work instructions
  • Assists with special projects as needed

Required Skills and Education:

  • Minimum five years payroll or related experience with acquired payroll laws and tax knowledge
  • Payroll software experience required such as PayPro, ADP, etc.
  • Ceridian DayForce experience preferred
  • Experience with Time Keeping Systems
  • Ability to create and run reports to support accounting and other internal needs
  • Ability to interpret pay polices, - PTO, disability, workers compensation, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Strong process improvement skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, with little supervision
  • Must be a customer-focused, results-driven leader with an emphasis on quality, detail and accuracy

Shift & Travel Requirements:

This is a full-time position with a standard workweek of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The position is remote with periodic travel required to office in Wading River, NY.
