JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Patient Accounts Payment Posting Representative is responsible for posting payments and rejections from all insurance carriers and patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Post payments manually and electronically from commercial carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, personal statements, and other remittance;
  • Post rejections manually and electronically from commercial carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield and other remittance;
  • Balance all batches with the deposit logs and reconcile in the Cash Clearing System;
  • Complete tasks accurately, maintaining quality standards;
  • Report problems and issues to the Patient Accounts Supervisor;
  • Report status of all manual, electronic, or zero payment remits daily.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • One year experience;
  • Computer literate, including knowledge of Excel;
  • Excellent follow-up skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Detail-oriented;
  • Accurate 10-keystrokes, by touch;
  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance;
  • High level of interaction and teamwork.

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

This job is performed in a well-lighted and well-vented environment. Requires constant sitting tolerance. Extended amount of time spent in front of computer display terminal. This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, and fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
