Job Summary The Patient Safety Attendant assists in maintaining a safe environment and remains with the patient at all times to provide on-going observation of the patient and alert the nursing staff as patient care needs arise. The Patient Safety Attendant performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner, functioning under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Essential Functions
- Observes the patient at the bedside.
- Assists with maintaining a safe environment.
- Serves as a role model fostering positive communications.
- Calls for assistance and notifies the nurse of immediate patient or staff needs. Assists with providing a quiet environment.
- Provides hand-off communication as appropriate to job duties.
- Provides diversional activities such as reading to patients, talking to patients, watching TV and/or listening to radio with the patient.
- Reports patient care requests to the nursing staff.
- Initiates or participates in CPR (BLS certification required.) Obtained within 2 months of employment.
- Assists with maintaining documentation according to established policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements
Range of motion within functional limits. Frequent walking, standing, sitting. Requires functional vision and hearing. Eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- On the job training will be provided for essential responsibilities of the job.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification.
- Current CPI Training (obtain with 2 months of employment

Schedule: PRN, 7a-7p, 12 hr shifts
