AA or equivalent from two year college or technical school would be helpful. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concept of basic algebra and geometry.
JOB SUMMARY: Work medical accounts prior to procedures or pain management appointments. Work with business office patient financial to obtain any patient information for the procedure/services. Contact insurance via phone and/or web to review patient benefits and calculate patient estimate portion based on benefits. Work with others in billing department and clinics to ensure patient is educated regarding cost of treatment.

Experience: Two years of medical staff office work can be substituted for education requirement.
Equipment/Technology: Strong computer skills a must. Knowledge of health insurance is a must.
Mental Capabilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand and fix mistakes in patient charts to ensure correct billing.
