Job Description
The PCA is responsible for providing a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities as supervised and directed by the Nurses within the Outpatient Surgery Center environment. Care is provided in collaboration with the patient, family, and other members of the Outpatient Surgery Center Peri-operative Team. Overall responsibilities are to assist the team in meeting patient care & facility needs. ie. Assist patient with dressing & undressing, stocking linen & supplies as needed, patient bay preparation & clean up, preparing transportation carts for next patient use, disinfecting EKG leads & Blood Pressure cuffs, escorting patients for discharge, and other responsibilities as identified to assist the patient & their families with the Outpatient Surgery Center stay.

Minimum Education Required
HS Graduate or Equivalent



Required Qualifications
For Hire: High school graduate or GED certificate required. One year of experience as a hospital aide, EMT certification, completion of a military corpsman training program with direct patient care experience required or successful completion of a PCA training course required. Experience in an acute care or procedural environment preferred. On going: Demonstrated competence to meet essential job functions. Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement, cost reduction, and current policies, procedures, and protocols. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.
