Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, responsible for providing general nursing care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or team leader.
Job Duties:
- Triages and manages patient messages and calls to assist providers in assessing and caring for patients and managing patient appointments.
- Takes vital signs and medical history and completes blood pressure checks and injections; administers medication.
- Coordinates prescription refills and authorizations following protocol.
- Ensures exam rooms are properly stocked and monitors inventory.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED and graduation from an approved vocation nursing school are required.
Experience:
- Up to one (1) year of vocational nursing experience is required.
- Prior experience in an operation room, anesthesia, or critical care unit is preferred.
- Demonstrates the ability to support the mission, vision, and patient promise throughout all interactions.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally.
- Demonstrates analytical thinking – this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements promptly.
- Demonstrates the ability to participate as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient.
Additional Licenses and Certifications:
- Must have an active State of Texas License Vocational Nurse license and CPR certification is required.
- Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
