Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Please Note:

  • Lifeguard training opportunities for uncertified applicants will be tentatively held 4/29-5/1 and 5/6-5/8.
  • Work shifts for this position will vary, but staff is generally needed mornings from 5:45am-10:15am, and afternoons from 1:45pm-9:45pm.
Job Summary
Performs work routine including clerical and general office duties in recreational environment. Screens visitors, answers telephone, and helps to identify and respond to customer needs. Assists customers by providing information or making referrals to the most appropriate personnel or service. Controls access to the Aquatic Center while providing a high level of quality customer service. Registers participants for programs, performs cash transactions, takes payments, enforces the rules and regulations of the aquatic center, and performs other tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties:
1. Monitors access to the Aquatic Center while delivering outstanding, safe, and fair customer service. Ensures the safety of facility patrons by following the emergency action plan and responding to emergencies.
2. Delivers excellent customer service responding immediately to customer request, inquiries, and concerns.
3. Works directly with the public in person and on the phone demonstrating good communication skills in a warm friendly manner.
4. Provides information regarding programs and services offered and assists customers, sometimes dealing with difficult situations or people. Provides customers with product and service information regarding facility.
5. Sells memberships, takes program registration, sells aquatic center merchandise, sells concession food and beverages, and assists customers with facility rentals. Accepts, processes and records cash and non-cash transactions related to registration and other revenue sources. Receives funds from customers and employees, disburses funds, and records monetary transactions.
6. Collects fees and conducts point of sale transactions while following applicable policies and procedures governing revenue collection and cash handling.
7. Performs routine filing, photocopying, typing/word processing, routine data entry, distributing mail, receptionist tasks, retail selling, inventory restocking, and scanning.

1. Perform basic maintenance and custodial duties as needed

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of customer service experience including handling telephone calls
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, or ability attain within three (3) months of hiring

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cash handling, payment processing, and daily sales reconciliation

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written direction and work procedure.

  • Ability to properly operate standard office equipment, including computer, fax, and printer. Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Excellent customer service skills

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions:
Lift and/or exert force up to 50 lbs. frequently. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evening and weekend hours.
