Position Purpose The Paralegal position is responsible for supporting the Senior Counsel and the Collections Manager by efficiently carrying out the daily operational and administrative tasks associated with the Legal Department, while maintaining the highest level of personal and professional standards. Work performed includes complex responsibilities involving confidential or technical information, compiling reports, preparing agendas and responding to vendors, external counsel, and other third parties by e-mail and telephone. This individual will complete these tasks by performing the following duties Impact on Profitability This position is responsible for supporting the Legal functions and Collection functions of the company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Provides support in prepares legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, contracts, initial and amended articles of incorporation, closing papers and binders, deeds, and trust instruments for review, approval, and use by attorney and documentation department. Effectively manages transactional documents and provides support in updating and maintaining transactional documents. Support transactions with borrowers and lessees. Supports transactions with facility providers and supports securitization offerings. Loan Sales – keeps contract files up to date and monitors compliance for audit support. Vendor Management – keeps contract files up to date and monitors compliance with the Policy. External Counsel Management – keeps track of external counsel bills and the monthly reports submitted by litigation counsel. Reviews files for litigation and organizes information and materials for referral to External Counsel. Audit – provides support to Legal and Collections to respond to auditors, regulators and any compliance related requests. Other related duties as assigned. Compliance with Applicable Laws and Regulations Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and internal company policies, including but not limited to Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending, Truth in Lending, Privacy, Anti-Discrimination, Privacy Laws, Vendor Management and Documentation Retention policies, to the extent each applies to current job responsibilities. Education and Experience Education and/or Experience Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School; or two – five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Will consider recent paralegal certificate holders with commensurate education and experience.
