Position Scope:
Responsible for prioritizing, organizing, packing, moving, staging, and processing material within the packing department with regard to efficiency, quality, and safety. Key expectations from this individual will be increased responsibility, problem solving, initiative, and accountability with regard to the Packing Department.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prioritizes customer orders according to delegation, shipping method, and product availability.
- Assures quality of product produced is acceptable.
- Organizes Workload
- Checks for accuracy: quantity, size, color, assemblies, and accessories.
- Determines proper packing requirements: carton size, weight, and protective material.
- Seeks out material within production area and displays initiative.
4. Performs light hand assembly.
5. Assures correct assembly of all items according to job paperwork and assembly
instructions.
6. Assures packaging process is carried out according to company policy and guidelines.
· Locates needed materials.
· Packs product in carton with consideration to possible damage.
· Staples, tapes, and/or bands carton closed.
· Correctly addresses and labels carton for proper shipment
· Stages cartons in proper staging areas for shipment.
· Ensures all paperwork and transactions are completed correctly.
· Turns in paperwork and all necessary transactions for further processing.
- Restocks assembly and/or packing workstations.
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Completes tasks delegated by lead person and/or supervisor.
- Instructs and educates others within packing area.
- Displays initiative when faced with a problem.
- Follows procedures in company handbook and other documents.
- Displays a sense of urgency towards completing assigned tasks.
- Maintains good attendance.
- Is dependable and displays a strong work ethic.
- Works within a team concept and contributes to a positive work environment.
- Demonstrates a professional attitude in approaching job assignment.

- Ability to read and interpret shipping orders and pick lists.
- Familiarity with general shipping method.
- Ability to memorize and recognize parts by number and finish.
- Must be familiar with general department standards.
- Must be able to work to high quality level.
- Ability to do simple mathematical calculations.
- Good manual dexterity and hand eye coordination.
- Some Packer jobs require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
- Ability to interpret job paperwork and instructions clearly.

- Willingness to cross-train and rotate positions effectively.

Education and/or Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

- Fingering/Grasping: Picking, pinching, pulling, folding, stapling, handling, and manipulating small and large object primarily with fingers and hands.
- Repetitive actions in wrists and hands.
- Position requires the use of near, mid-range and far vision with clarity at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. The ability to judge distance and pace relationships and see objects where and as they are. The ability to identify and distinguish colors. The ability to observe up and down or to the right or left (field of vision).
Tools and Equipment Used:
Must be able to use tape measure, calculator, pneumatic staple gun, automated banding machine, weight scale, utility knife, hammer, screwdriver, pliers, pneumatic air press, electric drill, pallet jack, and forklift.
