Position Summary:

The Outreach Specialist for Student Re-engagement and Retention is first and foremost responsible for all recruitment and retention efforts to develop and implement strategies for all Chicago locations. This position is responsible for ensuring that students and families are receiving timely communication. This position provides daily enrollment and retention reports to the Coordinator for each location. In addition, this person is required to recruit and network successfully with representatives from various communities, organizations, and neighborhoods with respect to the diverse populations and cultures.

The position operates with general direction from the Coordinator of Recruitment, Retention and Community Engagement and functions as an integral part of the Ombudsman team in supporting and implementing Ombudsman and Chancelight initiatives. The Outreach Specialist for Student Re-engagement and Retention supports the Coordinator of Recruitment, Retention and Community Engagement in decisions regarding the operation of the department and is an active and productive member of the Chicago team.

Position Details:

  • Develops innovative strategies for increasing the recruitment of prospective students in the young and far, old and far, and old and close programs from inquiry to matriculation. Actively participates in Open House Committee(s) Manage Prospective Student Visits, etc.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of admissions, departments, curricula, and CPS graduation requirements.
  • Provides levels of outreach to prospective students via in-person visits, phone calls, emails, home visits, etc. to support the progression of students through the enrollment. Develop and maintain a database of interested students for direct mail and email contact.
  • Works collaboratively with the department to develop community relation’s plans and promote new and on-going initiatives for student recruitment and retention.
  • Create a network of contacts with potential students through alumni, parents, faculty and current students
  • Supervise the Admissions Process by Directing and supervising on-line admissions process. Respond to families regarding admissions decisions. Manage wait list activity. Conduct family interviews for all transfer candidates
  • Works in partnership with community-based providers and administrative staff to develop and implement programs that promote academic and social achievement.
  • Promotes family and community relations opportunities through developing policies and implementing programs at community events.
  • Represents the company at community meetings. This position serves as a representative of the organization, maintaining and developing relationships with key external contacts and the community-at-large.
  • Works with health centers, community-based organizations, insurers, and community coalitions to develop programs, events, and new initiatives that promote marketing and community relations objectives.
  • Identifies opportunities and outlets for prospective student cultivation, including, professional organizations, community groups, service learning etc.
  • Serves as a liaison with key student support services, including but not limited to Post-Secondary Counseling, social workers, assistant principals, etc.
  • Provides community awareness through communications and admissions open houses and other outreach events to provide community awareness of School of Communication programs.

Qualifications

Education

Required

Associates or better in Business Administration or related field.

Experience

Required

Demonstrated ability to effectively use a variety of database and other computer support systems Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures. Ability to represent the company effectively in a variety of settings and with diverse communities. Demonstrated program development and implementation skills. Ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of administrative managers and community leaders. Demonstrated ability to achieve a high degree of accuracy in numerical analyses and presentation Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, problem solving, multi-tasking., conflict resolution, decision-making, and organizational skills. Bilingual skills are a plus.
