Oracle Database Engineer

As a member of the Health Sciences Global Business Unit (HSGBU) development organization, you will design, develop enterprise software and implement major changes to existing software architecture. A successful candidate will be a strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions and disciplines.

Job Requirements Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, create and maintain the back-end database and PL/SQL Code of customer-facing cloud based applications.
  • Help create and review system and software requirements.
  • Help foster good software engineering practices.
  • Follow relevant company procedures and help create and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Actively participate in all aspects of the software engineering process.

Required Qualifications

  • Expertise in Oracle database 12c/18c/19c and data warehouses
  • Advanced working SQL & PL/SQL knowledge and excellent SQL troubleshooting skills working with large databases
  • Strong database design/architecture experience, strong RDBMS concepts and working experience
  • Experience working with database server tuning strategies including parameters, resources, contention, etc.
  • Strong understanding and hands on experience on of Oracle AWR reports, ASH reports, Oracle trace & Oracle Performance Tuning
  • Experience in Data Modelling and ETL/ELT workloads
  • Experience migrating large mission critical databases
  • Experience in Shell/Python scripting
  • Can write complex SQL statements into optimized SQLs for better performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Oracle Oracle GoldenGate preferred
  • Knowledge of Cloud fundamentals preferred
Detailed Description and Job RequirementsAnalyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
