Optical Technician L3 - Folsom, CA

May perform a variety of tasks related to production control, order processing, material selection, surfacing, coating, finishing and shipping.May perform the following duties depending on assigned function:
- Find Rx trays in the lab, send supplies to doctors, distribute prescription trays to the appropriate locations, perform routine prescription filing, print computer lists to aid in various functions, cancel prescriptions in computer records, call doctor offices regarding prescriptions with missing information, expedite Rx trays through the lab, research old prescriptions, make changes on prescriptions
- Process new prescription paperwork, trace all styles of frames excluding rimless (requiring lenses be drilled) frames, modify electronic orders
- Replace broken or defective materials, order non-stock lenses and frames, communicate with doctors regarding: problems, changes, or choices for subcontract and completes Rxs, pull lenses from stock, prepare unused lenses for return, maintain Altair and frame-to-come inventory, operate the Daifuku storage and retrieval machine
- Perform all of the duties within L2 surfacing. Other duties include: operate all equipment associated with the manufacturing of cut to polish and digitally processed lenses, perform diagnostics on all machinery, ensure machinery performance using manufacturer's calibration guidelines, change tools and make minor adjustments where applicable, perform blocking functions, rework imperfect lenses
- Order apply UV cured spin coatings
- Tint solid lenses, manually blocks lenses, attend to A & R alarms, shepherd robotic equipment, operate the Focovision pass/fail, sort and shepherd the MEI line
- Clean and inspect prescriptions for cosmetic flaws, invoice prescriptions, sort and package prescriptions, process all courier shipments, contact vendors for shipment updates
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience in a production/manufacturing/assembly environment
Experience in a lens room environment
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to meet department standards for productivity and quality
Ability to read and write at a level necessary to accomplish the above tasks
Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
Ability to perform physical activities requiring bending, kneeling and pulling/pushing
Ability to recognize and distinguish colors
Ability to understand and follow procedures
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
