The Ophthalmic Technician I performs technical and clerical procedures to assist the Optometrist and Ophthalmologist with patient care in a friendly, caring and professional manner. In this role all of our focus is on helping our patience and there are absolutely no sales or commissions involved in this position.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones and greets patients in a pleasant and professional manner.
• Schedules follow up appointments and ophthalmologist procedures. Contacts pharmacy to call in prescriptions.
• Assists patients with frame and lenses selection.
• Fills out lab order forms and verifies lab orders and prescriptions
• Obtains base curve measurement of spectacle lenses.
• Close patient’s encounters, provide health education that is specific to vision and ocular health.
• Completes all visual field testing (FDT) and performs Pachymetry, fundus and anterior segment photography, Topography, O.C.T. and any other test requested.
• Performs eye drop instillation as required.
• Responsible for maintaining and preparing Vision Clinic and equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as Ophthalmic Assistant required
• Graduation from a course for Optometric Technician or completion of internal training and competencies required
• High school diploma or GED Equivalent
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
