Job Description
General Description: The position requires preparing patients for Ophthalmic exams and special testing procedures by accurately documenting patient information, performing preliminary diagnostic testing to assist the Provider in the ocular health exam of the patient.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. One (1) year experience in Ophthalmology preferred
3.Relevant experience with EHR software preferred
Licensure/Certifications:
1. CPR certified
2. COA certified

17. Working knowledge and completion of appropriate JCAHPO and other regulatory requirements
18. Able to maintain an average or above average number of patient work-ups(appx. 20/day).
Responsibilities: Clinical Duties 1. Record patient chief complaint and HPI 2. Obtain the patient’s ocular, medical, and social history 3. Obtain patient’s BSL if applicable 4. Obtain patient pharmacy, PCP, and referral doctor 5. Measure visual acuity of the patient, with and without glasses, for distance and near vision. 6. Obtain optical and lensometry measurements to determine lens prescription 7. Perform pre-examination ancillary testing: confrontation fields test, extra-ocular motility, color vision, stereopsis testing, pupil assessment, installation of eye drops, measure intraocular pressure, autorefraction, etc. 8. Assist physicians with minor procedures 9. Room patients, properly clean room and prepare for the physician to complete exam. 10. Perform and learn diagnostic testing including but not limited to OCT, HVF, Fundus Photography, Topography, Endo, and Pachymetry 11. Calibrate all instruments used including, but not limited to, slit lamp, tear lab, inflammadry, and tonometers 12. Assis with simple equipment maintenance including, changing light bulbs, batteries and refilling paper 13. Clean and stock consultation rooms with drugs and other supplies as needed 14. Perform other duties incidental to the work described
Administrative duties 1. Scanning and filing patient forms 2. Accurately document telephone calls
