Operations Technology Business Unit Manager - VP Details

The role is in support of the financial management and strategy arm of the Markets Operations Technology - providing a high level of support to the Finance Lead, primarily in the areas of financial management and the preparation and dissemination of robust management information to facilitate the effective management of the financial resources of the organization, all financial related matters and acts as a key interface to drive the timely delivery on agreed SLAs and key deliverables, working to ensure the organization’s financial targets are achieved.

  • Support and backup for financial lead - providing insightful financial and business analyses and developing senior management reports, to define and track key operational metrics to help track performance, drive business decisions, and achieve goals.
  • Strong financial background with understanding of forecasting and building budgets with the goal of effectively maintaining and meeting quarterly and full year targets
  • Understanding of the accrual process
  • Headcount management and involvement in hiring planning for direct staff, contractors and fixed price and processing of contracts and contractor renewals
  • Set up and maintain proper financial hierarchies to support the organization structure
  • Review and reconciliation of expenses including but not limited to direct and consumption related
  • Maintain and report on productivity data to capture efficiency saves
  • Build location strategy cost models and track resource movement
  • Gather, analyze and organize financial data views for various levels of management to provide transparency
  • Track and review spending trends, identifying inconsistencies and resolve related issues, ensure proper payment schedules and payments- robust analysis and interpretation of data, spotting trends and variances and providing business-focused reporting commentary
  • Review rate assignments and modeling to ensure proper recovery
  • Building a thorough understanding on the complexities of the overall net P&L, having a firm knowledge of the organization’s software capitalization process (capitalization credits, amortization etc.), preparing and updating client allocations and inter-departmental cross allocations.
  • Undertaking operational reporting activities as required, e.g. the production of performance dashboards and scorecards used at all levels within the organization for management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required; finance or accounting degree is preferred

Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience of managing / reporting on expenses preferably within the financial services industry
  • Minimum 3 years IT / Technology or Financial Services industry experience
  • Strong quantitative / analytical skills
  • Strong Computer skills including Excel; able to design and maintain forest models, pivot tables, macros etc., PowerPoint to create presentations, and proficiency in reporting tools (e.g. Business Objects, Microstrategy, Qlikview)
  • Individual contributor with the ability to work in a team of diverse skillsets and cultures, with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated success in managing deliverables within aggressive timeframes; ability to cope under time pressures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - will have interaction with senior technology and business managers
  • Proven ability of planning and executing medium range and long term strategic goals
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with business front office and global functions colleagues
  • Proven ability to conduct research/analysis, organize findings and build presentations.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills
