The role of Operations Manager at BCG is an exciting opportunity for a leader who can combine strategic vision with relentless focus on delivering best-in-class operations at the local office level. The Operations Manager will work directly for the Business Management Director (BSD), acting effectively as their Chief of Staff across local operations functions to create an office and team environment that delivers the best of BCG.
The right person for this role will be capable of driving impact and leading with integrity wherever the business needs them most. While the responsibilities of this role will flex with the growth and needs of the office, examples of responsibilities may include:- Partner with Business Management Director and Office Leader on all aspects of local operations (both day to day execution and longer term strategy) and how to thoughtfully implement BCG policy and guidelines locally
- Leading initiatives within the office to elevate service delivery to local staff and visitors and drive office culture
- Creating a strong teaming approach across Operations functions, ensuring that they work seamlessly with the broader BST and with the local Consulting Team
- Line management of Operations teams/managers as needed
- As defined by BSD, ownership of special projects and large-scale office programs/meetings (eg. buildouts, retreats, office metrics, All-Staff meetings)
- On-the-ground training for teams, and ad hoc assistance with team management where needed
- Implementation of BCG policy and process changes across Operations functions
YOU'RE GOOD AT
An Operations Manager will possess an ability to toggle between bold, long-term vision and a relentless focus on detail and the many nuances of operations, people and change management. Key qualities include:- An appetite for change and willingness to challenge accepted norms in order to drive business impact through our Operations teams
- An ability to translate leadership vision into practical, on-the-ground action, balanced with a confidence to ‘push back’ (on either leadership or staff) to ensure change happens at the appropriate pace
- A communication style that can influence and motivate staff across the full spectrum of experience and seniority
- A strong drive and proven ability to manage and grow others, across all parts of an organization
- Very high attention to detail and ability to quickly learn new things, to ensure that the all aspects of office management (facilities, vendors, engagement/affiliation) is run in a strategic and fiscally responsible way
- A proactive, growth mind-set coupled with strong teaming orientation
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5+ years in a professional services management role
- Experience managing teams of varying tenures and abilities
- Track record as a trusted advisor and sounding board with both peers and senior management
- Familiarity with working in a matrixed organization
- Well-versed in MS Office, specifically PowerPoint
YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will work directly for the Business Management Director for the Detroit office, and be a senior leader across a Business Services Team of 15+ people. You will eventually be working in our Detroit office, once it opens in May, 2021. CITY
