Job Description

The Operational Risk Manager (ORM) will be responsible for managing Operational Risk Management (ORM) processes that include Safety and Health, Environment, Business Continuity, Facility Security, Asset Conservation, and Pandemic Planning. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and Kraft Heinz policies/procedures and processes. In addition, this position is involved with the identification and communication of operational risks, within the factory, and the development of business strategies to mitigate those risks.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Ensure safe work environment for self and others by complying with all safety rules, requirements, and programs, as well as making suggestions to improve safety of the facility and personnel.
  • Implement Kraft Heinz ORM Management Systems and Best Practices as designed to be compliant and reduce operational risk.
  • Communication of ORM factory results to all levels within the organization utilizing KPI metrics.
  • Participate in the annual ORM conference, quarterly webcasts, regional meetings, etc. Lead on corporate social responsibility issues and action;
  • Primary liaison to collaborate with Kraft Heinz Legal and Communications Department regarding incidents that could jeopardize the integrity of the brands;
  • Keep abreast of applicable ORM legislation and practices that impact the factory, ensure compliance.
  • Develop and manage department ORM financial budget;
  • Support plant Quality, high performance culture and continuous improvement programs through active participation and accountability for QRMP programs, Quality Management Systems and plant productivity programs
  • Actively participate in annual planning, weekly PDCA meetings, DDS meetings and daily Level 2 and 3 meetings
  • Coaches and develops their team by serving as leadership coach and resource
  • Ensure that the site adheres to applicable Kraft Heinz policies/procedures, processes and operating principles;
  • Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary;
  • Coordinates and assists with the implementation of continuous improvement principles into ORM elements;
  • Provide training to staff and employees to ensure that all recognize their contribution to improved ORM performance;
  • Coordinate and Attend any hearings on ORM matters;
  • Devise and implement the facility’s ORM Business Plans. Ensure action items are developed and implemented for process improvement;
  • Facilitate Workers’ Compensation process with diligence
  • Meet corporate deadlines and completion targets
  • Participates in internal audit program, food safety committee, and sanitary design team
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifts to work with employees from all shifts and overtime as required
  • Management reserves the right, as it deems necessary to assign jobs on a temporary basis in any manner that supports efficient plant operations

Working Conditions:

  • 40+ hours per week; Overtime as required-daily or additional days.
  • Flexibility to adjust shift schedule to work with employees on other shifts as required
  • Work is indoors but must be able to go outside to check equipment, do inspections or other occasional duties. Indoor can vary from air conditioned, to ambient, to very hot and humid, and during sanitation, can be wet and humid.
  • Must wear following PPE, Personal Protective Equipment: bump cap/hard hat, safety glasses, slip resistant shoes, safety toe shoes, ear plugs, face masks, face shields, hair nets, beard nets, and any other requirements that may be short or long term.

Basic or minimum Qualifications/Abilities :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent is preferred; Bachelor’s level degree is required
  • Minimum of 1-5 years’ experience in safety and environmental management is required
  • Prior experience with Process Safety Management and Risk Management programs preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA Regulations, DOT Regulations and Management Systems (i.e., ISO 14001, Safety Management Systems)
  • Continuous Improvement Principles and Practices
  • Professional designations such as a Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM), 30-hour OSHA certified, certification in Ergonomics, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Associate Safety professional (ASP) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal rules/regulations such as EEO & FDA,
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team oriented fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to partner and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment, problem solving and decision- making skills

Physical Requirements

  • Able to walk, stand, and sit for the duration of shift
  • Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, sorting, and reaching to both ground level and overhead
  • Wear all Required Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, to perform job tasks
  • Ascend/Descend stairs and ladders throughout shift
  • Lift up to up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier weights with assistance
  • Able to give and understand instructions and hold conversations in manufacturing environment, as well as an office or classroom setting
  • Communicate with co-workers via face to face conversation, radio, and phone.
  • Must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, disassemble and reassemble equipment, operate a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Utilize phone and email for communication
  • Vision adequate to manipulate equipment controls, complete paperwork, utilize computers, and have depth perception.
