The PR Clinic Circulating RN Job Description
The circulating nurse works by collaborating with other members of the team including the anesthesiologist, surgeon, surgical technologist, surgical assistant, and other personnel. Nurse will prepare instruments and equipment for surgical procedures, as well as providing patients with perioperative care. Duties will include preparing operating rooms, liaising with healthcare professionals on patient care, and providing patients with post-surgery instructions. They render expert pre-, intra- and post-operative nursing service. These duties will be carried out to outside the sterile area of the operating rooms.
Responsibilities:
- Providing surgical patients with perioperative care in operating rooms.
- Stocking operating rooms with sterile surgical equipment, linens, and supplies.
- Preparing patients for surgery by cleaning and disinfecting areas to be operated on.
- Ensures “time-outs” occur prior to surgery beginning.
- Applying sterile techniques in handling medical instruments and equipment pre-, during, and post-surgery.
- Collaborate with surgical teams and recovery nurse on patient medication and post-surgical care.
- Assist with maintenance and safe storage of surgical equipment and supplies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Alabama approved Registered Nurse required.
- Certification as an Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) required.
- 3+ years of experience as a nurse providing perioperative care.
- Exceptional knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment, as well as sterile techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in developing and implementing perioperative nursing care plans.
