The Fabrication Specialist is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment.
Individuals enter the field of O&P from a wide variety of educational and occupational backgrounds. Most enjoy working with their hands and using power tools found in many shops or manufacturing environments. They are resourceful, problem solvers with a gift for helping others.
Many transition into this unique career field from manufacturing, the automotive industry, engineering, military service, the arts, and other service industries.
