TITLE: Online Learning Facilitator QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field Prior successful work experience with students Prior experience with online learning programs, preferred Demonstrated organization and clerical skills Prior successful experience as a classroom or teacher assistant, preferred JOB GOAL: Coordination, operation and management of student online learning Serves as a student advocate to provide direction and support by creating and monitoring processes that will ensure student success in the online environment. Coordinates all registrations of students enrolled in North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) and Apex Learning credit recovery courses, including working with the school counselor(s) to make sure the student has the necessary prerequisites for the course and the course fits with the student’s pathway Coordinates with the school’s Data Manager/Registrar to ensure that all courses and grades are placed on the student’s report card and transcript Collaborates with the school’s testing coordinator to coordinate any testing that is mandated by the course or by the state (following up with ordering, scheduling and administering of all tests Provides an orientation for all first-time NCVPS/Apex Learning students so that they understand the expectations of the program and the school along with student and parent information and support sessions Participates and leads virtual open houses that are teacher driven and/or community organized Monitors all NCVPS/Apex Learning students via bi-weekly progress reports and grade book Communicates and follows up with online instructors as to student support issues around grades, course attendance, participation, and other processes such as re-test requirements Follows NCVPS/Apex Learning IEP/504/EL/AIG Guiding Principles in terms of updating student IEP/504/EL/AIG indication in the registration system, communicating student modifications to instructors, and meeting the modifications the instructor cannot because of the constraints of the online environment Gathers course requirements from NCVPS-supplied documents in order to prepare students to succeed in courses Coordinates the acquisition of textbooks and instructional materials for NCVPS and Apex Learning courses Takes full responsibility to assist all students taking online courses Serves as liaison for the student and parent to the NCVPS contact in dealing with concerns and issues about courses and instructors Coordinates with Central Office Director of Digital Learning and Libraries with regard to local school and student needs Stays current on all NCVPS/Apex Learning communications (E-lerts, NCVPS Director documents and communications: weekly e-letter, the director’s Blog) and attend online or face to face training and coaching sessions Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor PHYSICAL QUALIFICATION: Must be able to physically perform the basic operational functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, hearing and repetitive motion. The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year; work schedule determined by the Superintendent. Salary in accordance with the adopted schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of non-certificated staff.
