Nutritionist SME- Project Management

Panum is seeking a Nutritionist SME with strong Project/Program Management (P/PM) experience to provide nutrition and project/program management support to assist the NTOS branch with project initiation, planning, coordination, monitoring, and oversight of the full portfolio of NTOS nutrition-related training and technical assistance projects and activities to ensure proper project execution and risk mitigation. Duties may include:
Determining appropriate nutrition-related training, research, technical assistance projects, or services for Child Nutrition Program operators.
Qualified SMEs shall demonstrate clear and strong experience and ability related to: Cultivating accountability for high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results; Providing a high level of attention to detail, organization skills, and customer service (i.e. working with internal and external stakeholders to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve issues); Information management (i.e. gathering information, organizing and maintaining information or information management systems); Interpersonal skills; Planning and evaluation (i.e. organizing work, setting priorities, determining resources, determining project goals, and coordinating/monitoring progress to accomplish goals); and oral communication (i.e. expressing information to individuals or groups effectively, assessing target audience communication needs, applying strong listening skills).
Skills/Requirements
- Developing, modifying, reviewing, or providing input on nutrition-related research, training, and technical assistance resource development plans, including creating project schedules and work plans and revising them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Monitoring and tracking all project activities, deliverable submissions, reports (monthly, quarterly, and final technical, grant, or training reports), and resources/deliverables against established project timelines and plans, identifying areas of concern, and making corrective action recommendations to NTOS management.
- Maintaining project management tools using approved project management software (e.g. Smartsheet) on a regular basis.
- Utilizing technical nutrition expertise when reviewing project deliverables (research, training, and technical assistance resources) and providing substantive comments for improvement.
- Participating in administrative and technical meetings that are project-related.
- Implementing or maintaining quality assurance and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) processes.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of product/resource/training/research release promotion, outreach, and/or communications plans.
- Promoting appropriate nutrition messages and resources through multiple channels to reach the target audiences and market as part of project deliverables.
- Communicating (orally and in writing) with Regional Offices, State agencies, stakeholders, and target audiences through webinars, presentations, trainings, exhibits, and teleconferences to ensure that targeted messaging and resources are delivered to appropriate audiences.
- Assisting in the planning and conducting of professional nutrition meetings that provide training, program information, and updates, as well as solicit input and feedback from Child Nutrition Program stakeholders.
- Reviewing the summary report of evaluations, recommendations, and actions from the completed aforementioned professional nutrition meetings and making project/resource/training recommendations to NTOS management.
- The Nutritionist SMEs shall possess extensive and strong skills, knowledge, and demonstrated experience in nutrition-related work and Project/Program Management.
- The Nutritionist SMEs shall have demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Sharepoint, and Excel) as well as other collaboration and project management software (such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Teams).
Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, public health, health education, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 4-7 years of demonstrated project/program management required
- Minimum of 3 years working with Child Nutrition Programs at a Federal Government agency or at a State agency or at a local organization or local agency who operates at least one of the Child Nutrition Programs would meet this requirement (in particular, National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program).
- Professional certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification highly desired
