Nurse Practitioner (Temporary) - Health Center Details

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide comprehensive health care, including outpatient medical care and urgent care, to undergraduate, graduate, and international students at Azusa Pacific University. This position will be flexible and may include weekends to cover care management for COVID testing and contact tracing.


Required Education

  • Possession of a valid California license as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Furnishing License.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

Required Experience

  • Two years of experience in clinical medicine preferred.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions


  • Provides primary care to ambulatory patients, obtains extensive health histories including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and environmental aspects.
  • Performs comprehensive physicals such as nursing, athletic, employment, and DPT.
  • Performs COVID testing in COVID Clinic.
  • Performs contact tracing as needed with positive COVID cases.
  • Proficient in making medical diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic lab test, x-rays, and imaging.
  • Furnishes prescriptive medications.
  • Health promotion education.
  • Participates in regular Health Center staff meetings.
  • Comply with confidentiality regulations as set by FERPA, federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by physician and SHC Administrative Director.

  • Reading, writing notes, and computer monitor.
  • Ability to see details at close range.

Environment

  • Pleasant office, comfortable temperature.
  • Potential exposure to infectious and contagious agents, chemical reagents, communicable diseases, and blood borne pathogens.
  • Standard protective practice of wearing gloves for patient contact and body fluid contact.

Technologies

  • Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficient in Medicat.

Compensation

  • Grade 18: $47.33-$61.53/hourly
  • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
