  • Collaborate with surgeons in one or more surgical services to assess, coordinate, plan and implement the newest approaches and practices in order to deliver efficient, cost effective surgical care for the beneficiary population.
  • Ensure availability of equipment, instruments and supplies for surgical cases and ensure equipment is working properly preoperatively and throughout surgical procedures.
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative patient care.
  • Order, replenish and responsible for state-of-the-art equipment, instruments and supplies used in one or more highly specialized surgical services.
  • Scrub or circulate on surgical procedures as assigned.
  • Identify, distribute and balance workload and tasks among personnel based on their competency level and experience.
  • Develop and initiate innovative and individualized teaching programs for patients and staff requiring special approaches.

Basic Requirement for Nurse (Operating Room):

Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Education and Experience: Possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program and at least one full year of professional nursing experience
Professional Nursing Experience is defined as: One year of experience which includesproviding comprehensive care to surgery patients such as pre-, intra- or post-operative care, operating or monitoring complex medical equipment for surgical procedures, and assisting with administrative or floor nursing duties.

OR

Education: Successful completion of two and a half years of progressively higher level graduate education leading towards a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
