This position requires that you accept the responsibility for the delivery of services
outlined in this job description to each resident of the Community. You will be accountable
to monitor the activities and behavior of all residents and guests of the community during
your work shifts. This position will routinely inspect the Community for any and all suspicious
activities. The intent of this position is to help prevent would-be criminal activity, including,
but not limited to theft, arson, and/or vandalism.
Ensure that a safe, secure, attractive and healthy environment during the evening and
night hours for the benefit of the residents, family members, guests and team members.
Act judiciously and responsibly in the event of an emergency. Perform any other duties
assigned by the Executive Director.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Personally get to know all residents by communicating with other team members
and departments, reviewing appropriate resident records and direct conversation
with residents.
2. Participate in the orientation of each new resident to their new living environment, to
you, to other team members and to all other residents. Follow and actively
participate in all resident orientation practices and procedures which have been and
will continually be developed to ease the disorientation, confusion and withdrawal
for each new resident. Explain the amenities, routines and expectations of the
Community and your department and discuss their unique needs and preferences
with them as often as necessary to ease their transition.
3. Record and use all pertinent information from resident records regarding effective
methods used in effecting communication with, motivation of, and assistance to each
resident of the Community.
4. Request additional guidance, training and support as necessary to make your work
with each resident reach their full potential for safe, healthy and meaningful lifestyle
and the Community. Participate in all required training, orientation, meetings and
programs offered by employer.
1. Be familiar layout of the interior and exterior plans and features of the property,
with all emergency procedures and incident reporting procedures and be fully
prepared during assigned work hours respond to all emergency situations or
incidents in a responsible, timely and judicious manner.
2. Respond to, take appropriate action, and document all incidents, fire alarms and
other emergency notification alerts. Assist in direction and calming of residents
during alarms.
3. Accurately document and promptly report to management all incidents involving
residents, personnel, visitors, property damage or any unlawful or unusual activity
on the property.
4. Conduct and document floor and exit check on all floors in all buildings four (4)
times each night.
5. Patrol the Community campus to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure
security of windows, gates and doors.
6. Check for burned out interior or exterior light bulbs or other plant and property
damages and deficiencies. Remedy the situation or write a work order.
7. Answer telephone calls for all incoming calls during your shift. Take messages,
answer questions, and provide basic information. Transfer to other staff when
appropriate.
8. Assist resident with opening doors, adjusting air conditioning, setting heating
thermostats and any other requests.
9. Monitor and provide access to entrances of the Community for visitors, family
members, employees, and residents, to help protect against any theft and maintain
security of the grounds.
10. Perform tasks on current list of housekeeping, laundry or light maintenance
responsibilities.
11. Assist with setup and implementation of continental breakfast in the bistro.
12. Assist other team members as needed.
13. Upon direction from the Director, open security door or entrance for employees
arriving at work each day.

15. Communicate and channel to supervisor, all resident, personnel and other matters

16. While on duty, diligently and conscientiously devote your full and exclusive time
and attention, your best skills and efforts, to the discharge of your duties. Remain
awake and alert throughout the entire duration of your shift.
17. Promote a thorough and continuous understanding among all employees of the
importance of the position to the quality of life for all residents and prospective
residents.
18. Perform such other tasks as may be required from time to time by the management
of the property.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A continuous and consistent demonstrated interest in and knowledge about the elderly
and their needs and the competency to meet those needs on a consistent basis.
An interest in and willingness to learn and a demonstrated initiative in developing skills in
caring for the elderly consistent with the philosophy and policies of the Community. Also,
must be at least 18 years of age.
PHYSICAL, SENSORY, AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Primary Physical Requirements:
1. Lift up to 10 lbs: Frequently required to lift supplies, and residents’ personal items,
i.e., clothing and food items.
2. Lift 11 to 25 lbs: Frequently may be required when lifting door mats, vacuums, or
other cleaning supplies.
3. Lift 26 to 50lbs: Occasionally required when assisting an ambulatory resident in
standing up.
4. Lift over 50 lbs: Frequently required when transferring a non-ambulatory resident
weighing between 100 and 160 pounds. Two staff are typically utilized when
resident is unusually heavy or combative.
