ECS is seeking a Naval Architect to work in our San Diego, CA office.

Job Description:
Provide broad engineering and technical leadership for current and future work under various NOAA, USN, and USCG support contracts. Proactively work with clients to identify emerging program requirements and develop support plans. Effectively work with multi-disciplined projects/teams that may include Government, subcontractors, and peers. Must be willing to and capable of performing ship design studies, requirements development, analysis of alternatives, design reviews, trade-off studies, engineering analyses, and calculations (Trim/Stability/Damage/Seakeeping/ect) as well as other technical, acquisition and programmatic functions as required. Additional duties may include drawing review/modification using AutoCAD, technical writing, contract management, and construction oversight. Effectively interface with ABS, USCG, and other regulatory agencies.

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • BS in Naval Architecture
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in an engineering discipline for strategic planning, requirements analysis, systems design, engineering, test and evaluation, systems integration, conceptual designs and program implementation, and construction, for mechanical, marine, and/or naval engineering projects.
  • Experience leading small, specialized technical teams to accomplish marine engineering projects.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of/familiarity with commercial standards/regulations (ABS, USCG, IMO, SOLAS, etc).
  • Experience with technical writing.

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s in engineering, MBA or post graduate degree in management also desired
  • PE in Naval Architecture and PMP certification (or equivalent) is desired.
  • Onboard ship and/or shipyard experience as well as experience with Naval Architecture software suites (such as GHS, Rhino, FastShip, ShipConstructor, etc.) is desired.
