MUSC is a Level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center as well as a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center with world class technology (and attending physicians). For our long term EEG patients, we have a brand new dedicated Inpatient EEG Monitoring Room which is staffed 24/7, optimizing diagnostic quality and enabling quick-response patient care. Our Clinical Neurophysiology Lab proudly comprises five accredited labs including an IOM team, Outpatient EEG team, Inpatient EEG team, EMG team and Neurovascular team. Entity/Organization: MUHA (Medical University Hospital Authority/Medical Center) Hours per week: Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Hourly Job Summary/Purpose: The Inpatient Electroencephalography (EEG) Technician II of Clinical Neurophysiology Services reports Under indirect supervision of the EEG Coordinator, EEG Unit Leaders or designee, the Inpatient EEG Tech II records by means of electronic equipment neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system. Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program of Electroneurodiagnostic (END) technology; or eligible for National Board Certification; or any combination of education and experience that warrants eligibility for National Board Certification required. Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. May require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, and weekends. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
