THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (Title 32), Position Description Number D0843000 and is part of the OK Camp Gruber Trng Site, Oklahoma Army National Guard. This job is located in an ARNG/ANG National Guard organization. Its purpose is to operate and perform operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles to transport personnel, supplies, materials or equipment. Responsibilities
Operates primarily straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds and/or truck tractors with semitrailers or full trailers to transport personnel or pick up and deliver supplies, materials or equipment. Incumbent couples and uncouples the truck tractor and semitrailer or truck and trailer, and connects and disconnects the air brakes and electrical lines.
Incumbent maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles, between parked aircraft and when positioning vehicles at loading docks.
Ensures shipping and accounting documents are with the shipment and reflect actual condition, quantities and type of material.
Completes log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportation documents for accurate accounting.
May identify, inspect, and segregate equipment or material as it is received for obvious damage and needed repairs.
May perform warehouse work to include issuing receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and materials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking material; and repairing or replacing items on equipment.
May select storehouse locations within the general warehousing plan.
Operates electric, gasoline or diesel-powered forklift trucks.
Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, fuel trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds) and up to 14,400 kilograms (less than 32,000 pounds). Experience operating vehicles and tractors, some of which may be equipped with special-purpose powered equipment. Experience operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, refueling vehicles passenger buses or ambulance buses.
May require normal color vision to differentiate item color codes pertaining to flammability, toxicity and explosivity.
May require knowledge of warehousing plans and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques.
Because of the size and weight of these vehicles, drivers are knowledgeable about turning the vehicles, in evaluating the condition and load limits of bridges, in scheduling weigh points, and in accessing traffic conditions and hazards, locally and over long-distance routes in unfamiliar geographic areas.
Driver has skill to operate these vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades.
Requires skill and knowledge to operate vehicles that have limited maneuverability; have more than one body and two breaking systems; or are oversized.
