Dragas Mortgage Company, a well-established fast growing local mortgage company has an immediate opening for an experienced Mortgage Loan Underwriter. We are looking for an experienced Underwriter to evaluate and determine eligibility of loan applications. This is a full-time position that offers great compensation and benefits package. Essential Functions: · Authorize and underwrite loans · Review and verify loan applications and supporting documentation for accuracy · Review and specify loan conditions as necessary · Analyze loan risk and request additional information as necessary · Prepare reports detailing risk assessments findings and other data that contribute to lending decisions · Make loan eligibility decisions and approve or reject applications · Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards · Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines · Document and effectively communicate reasons for approval/rejection of loan applications Minimum Required: · High School Diploma or GED equivalent required · College degree in business, banking, finance, or related field is preferred · Minimum of 3+ years underwriting mortgage loans experience required · CMU certification is preferred · Full knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA and VHDA underwriting guidelines · Experience in mortgage lending and knowledge of loan types, such as Conventional, FHA, VA, VHDA · Good working knowledge of mortgage loan processing and relevant regulations · Proficient in mortgage loan computer software and automated underwriting systems · Outstanding oral and written communication · Strong analytical and time management skills and superior attention to detail · Well organized and able to handle pressure · Demonstrate good credit worthiness · Maintain confidentiality Dragas Mortgage Company is an Equal Opportunities, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities employer.
