The Monitor Tech is responsible for performing clerical, clinical, and communication functions on the LTACH unit. She/He provides courteous reception on the LTAC unit and arranges and coordinates activities for patient care. The Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary is also responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms of patients required to be monitored at specified time. Performs all job functions listed below. Responsibilities: The Monitor Technician is responsible for coordinating all activities in the nurses' station related to patient care as follows: answer telephones and call lights; maintain patient charts; interact with physicians, staff, patients, and visitors. 2 Welcomes patients and checks for proper identification bracelets. 3. Observes patient telemetry monitoring system and reports any abnormal responses promptly. 4. Admits and discharge patients from patient telemetry monitoring system. 5. Runs rhythm strips from patient telemetry monitoring system as per protocol. 6. Monitors accurate functioning of patient telemetry monitoring system (i.e., battery life, rhythm clarity related to patient setup, transmitter safety). 7. Assures the presence, functionality and cleanliness of all necessary equipment. 8. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 9. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day. 10 Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Minimum of 2 or more years experience in health-related field or 1 year in associated field of cardiology. 3. Successful completion of monitor technician course at any hospital facility. 4. Successful passing score on HMH monitor technician arrhythmia exam. 5. Experience in computers and applicable software applications 6. To work every other weekend. 7. To work three (3) out of six (6) holidays. 8. To work rotating schedules/shifts based on needs. 9. Excellent telephone skills, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 10. Excellent organizational skills
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1.Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician who has successfully completed a PCT program which includes Phlebotomy, EKG and nursing assistant courses both in the theoretical and clinical setting preferred skills.
Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred: 1. Certified Nursing Assistant for inpatient care areas, Certified Medical Assistant for outpatient care areas preferred
